I got Presto the first time out of desperation during the great toilet paper shortage at the beginning of the pandemic, and have used it happily ever since. It’s soft enough not to irritate sensitive skin but has enough integrity not to shed paper dust all over the bathroom, and it’s strong enough to do all the things you want toilet paper to do without tearing. It’s wonderfully unscented. The roles are big but not so gigantic that they can’t be squeezed into the toilet paper holder built into the wall of the bathroom of my house (which was built before giganticism of products took over). Finally the box it’s delivered in is easy to open for an ordinary person, unlike the box that Amazon paper towels come in which requires Herculean strength. In all this product is a winner.

I have suffered from severe TPA (Toilet Paper Anxiety) since I was a child living in a strict “3-square” household. There were times when I had to use 4 squares, and one time when I got food poisoning I went into utter despair and had a panic attack right on the toilet. Fast forward to adulthood, where I had manipulated my anxiety almost into oblivion with Toto washlets in both bathrooms, and (ALWAYS) 3 extra rolls of toilet paper in the spare holder. Sometimes I would go a little crazy and use more squares than I actually needed, and I would laugh out loud and say “Three Squares, HaHa!”
But that frivolity came to an abrupt halt in March 2020. In the beginning of Shelter in Place, I generously gave away toilet paper to friends and family who did not have long-standing TPA and therefore had no reserves. I was proud of my TP inventory that existed long before there was a shortage, and felt that something good had come out of my anxiety: the ability to help others. But that too came to an end as the TP shortage did not let up, and other people in my household who usually used the facilities at their workplaces, and were not raised by my mother’s 3-square iron fist, seemed almost to devour TP at the same rate as oxygen.
All this is to say that yesterday, when I received my first Subscribe and Save 24-count Presto! 308-Sheet Mega Roll Toilet Paper, Ultra-Soft (plush&thick); Lint Control, Septic Safe–the first delivery of toilet paper since my last shipment on February 1, I cried tears of joy and even considered using a square to dab at my eyes, but I hadn’t sanitized the package yet, so I used a tissue.
After proper protocol was followed, I had a chance to get up close and personal with the product, and I must say, I am so very pleased.
I should point out that in addition to my prior Subscribe and Save toilet paper’s sudden unavailability at the beginning of March, I had been getting Presto! 24-count 308-Sheet Mega Roll Toilet Paper, Ultra-Strong (thick & flexible); Extra Absorbant, Septic Safe. I was perfectly content with that product, but one small drawback was the overall dimension of each individual roll. As I mentioned, I like to have 3 spares in my spares container, but I had to kind of force each roll down into the cylinder because the rolls were just a little too thick. This was not such a problem when I was able to keep 3 spares in the holder at all times, because one only needed to extract the top roll before I would refill it. Well, this month I received the crushing news that the Presto! Ultra-Strong was no longer available on Subscribe and Save, and so was being cancelled. The replacement was this 24-count Presto! 308-Sheet Mega Roll Toilet Paper, Ultra-Soft (plush & thick); Lint Control, Septic Safe. Each pack of 6 rolls comes in blue packaging instead of purple, and to my great elation, each roll is very slightly smaller…barely noticeable until I began to refill my sad empty spare TP holder. Each roll just slid into that cylinder like butter! I did a jig, then sat down to write this review.

Although you are not advertised as Ultra-Strong, you do not make me wish I had something stronger. You are (plush&thick) instead of (thick & flexible), but I don’t find you too rigid. You have lint control which I can only imagine will control lint I never knew I had (I will test this feature out, and do a follow up review). Even though you have lost your Extra Absorbent feature in exchange for Lint Control, I do not find myself wishing for more absorbancy. You have made my life complete.
